Wing Gallery at the MVC Museum of Agriculture

Have you ever visited the Museum of Ventura County Agriculture Museum in Santa Paula? Well, we have, and found it absolutely fascinating! Here is how our story begins...

Sunkist Growers has been our client for over thirty years. They recently moved their headquarters from Sherman Oaks where they have been since 1970. Their new location is in Valencia and they had us frame about 70 iconic box-end citric labels for their offices. Among the work needing to be framed were two mural paintings created by Frank Bowers and Arthur Prunier in 1935 - eighty years ago. (See our blog post of September 5, 2015 for information about the installation).

Please join us on our pictorial journey of this wonderful Agriculture Museum, and of course, see these amazing framed murals in their new home.

A Unique Job for a Good Client

Hi Mark

I can't express how excited I was to install the book & stand in the living room. Michael & I got it home. And he was so gracious to lift the 60+ pound book onto the stand.

I am beyond words!

Thank you so much.
S.B.

MADAME ALEXANDER DISPLAY

This display case, as you can see, is loaded with Madam Alexander Dolls.
"Beth" from LITTLE WOMEN is the hands down favorite character in this case which measures 48" wide, 32" high and 10" deep. That's pretty deep for a doll case but not for dolls who are dressed in such "poofy" dresses . The case is fabricated with clear acrylic and painted from the back with a blue sky and "poofy" clouds. I enjoyed building this display case for such an avid collector! Is there something you collect that you would like to enjoy in a custom made display case?

Installed at the Ventura County Museum of Agriculture in Santa Paula, California, these mural paintings were created by
Frank Bowers and Arthur Prunier in 1935...80 years ago.
The Wing Gallery completed the framing earlier this year and they were installed in August.
The largest pieces installed by us prior to this were "Superman" images which were hung at DC  Entertainment in Burbank, California. These framed pieces of artwork measure  110" x 133".

In the Spotlight of the Sun

Two artists make accomplished perfection appear effortless. We see the dancer’s mastery of balance and grace through the artist’s command of shape and form and the play of light on and about her through his superb mastery of watercolor paints. This Fine Art Edition is the finishing touch in the creation of a truly elegant living space.

Summer Vineyard
by June Carey

The magic of California’s wine country is rooted in the rich soil, temperate climate and proximity to the great Pacific Ocean. Mix in the devoted viniculturalists that make Northern California their home and the recipe for great wine is complete.
June Carey portrays this harmony between people and the land like no other artist. A nurtured landscape can flourish and be as striking as a natural one. In "Summer Vineyard," the artist combines them with passion and flair. One can feel the rich, warm summer breeze that flows across this lush landscape that is part God given, and part man made.

WHISKY BEFORE BREAKFAST

Whiskey Before Breakfast
by Michael Blessing Lord protect us, Saints preserve us, We been drinkin’ Whiskey ‘fore breakfast
Coins weren’t actually minted near The Mint Bar, but many were in play during the heyday of gambling in the rear of the bar, in downtown Sheridan.  Cowboys and girls had been known to duck under the front door on horseback. Teddy Roosevelt wrote of the “mad antics” he witnessed at the Mint.  Certainly, the chords and lyrics of the iconic fiddle tune have been played time and again in this classic Western destination.

"Schwinn Bricks"

“I love the look of a cruiser bike,” say Todd Van Fleet. “It’s a timeless form; a model of usefulness and simplicity. A bicycle is freedom, innovation, ingenuity, simplicity and the wind-in-your-face feeling like a young kid again. I try to capture the personalities of each and every bicycle that I find by incorporating them into different landscapes. Snapping the shutter is the easy part, finding the bikes, that's where there the real adventure begins”

"How Many Angels Can Dance on the Head of a Pin?"

How Many Angels Can Dance on the Head of a Pin?
by James C. Christensen

The question is sometimes attributed to medieval philosophers but nowadays it’s used as a metaphor for debating irrelevant minutia while more pressing concerns bang at our door. Of course, in the hands of James C. Christensen, "magic" is in the metaphor and with this never-before-published gem he turns the idiom on its head. The result is both whimsical and inspirational. This solo angel is barely holding it all together as he sticks that landing like a figure skater at Olympic try-outs.

"Grand Ol' Gang" by Andy Thomas

It’s lonely at the top!

Our Presidents have a uniquely solitary job. They surround themselves with the strength and wisdom of talented and experienced people, but as Harry Truman once said, "The buck stops here.” We can hardly imagine the weight of decisions they must bear. Perhaps that is why we are so familiar with the before and after photographs depicting the accelerated ageing process while in office. These leaders deserve some time to relax and unwind. more...

"The Snake Oil Salesman"

The size and scope of Morgan Weistling’s The Snake Oil Salesman
places us in the middle of the action, in amongst a crowd of our friends
and neighbors at Dr. Stanley’s Traveling Medicine Show. Back in the
1800s traveling salesmen crossed the land from town to town, promoting
what they claimed were remedies for all manner of ailments. To sell their
fake medicines, these charlatans would pose as professors of medicine or
doctors with dubious credentials. more...
